Addicts care about the short term, they care about feeling better right now regardless of the long term consequences. If the government didn't place negative consequences upon people for using, the long term consequences really would not be very bad. Some times it would actually make sense to help themselves in the short term, however the government can drastically cause someone's life a lot of harm. The Government causes more harm than the substance ever does.
The right way to solve addiction is to think of the real reasons why people do things and the discovering the right way to fix these things. Just telling someone to not do something is never going to stop them, even if you could force them to stop it wouldn't ever solve the real issue. The real issue is that we do not feel the way we are supposed to or want to. If we felt the way we were supposed to then we would never want to do anything to change that or risk anything to do so.
The most important thing to me is to feel good, feeling good helps me think good. I believe that our brains have been locked in certain ways in order to work in specific ways. Some of these ways do not make sense to me and I think need to be changed. I am talking about the reward system in my brain and the way it works. It does not make sense that my brain would ever stop producing any chemicals I need to feel good just because it was getting help from another substance. I know when I feel good and get help, it helps me work even harder. My brain should never become dependent on any drug or substance. It needs to keep creating the same amount of chemicals it was before it got any help or extra. Dependence is not a natural thing, if it was then anyone should just know this information by thinking about it. I know my brain can change, I need the right locks to be removed first though.
I believe feelings were created in order to help people behave correctly. There is so much more that could help guide us to do the correct things. Feelings should be evolving.
